Meet Tipton County Veterans Service Officer

As the Tipton County Veteran Service Officer, Mike Leach started his career in the United States Marine Corps in 1998 as a 3521 Diesel Mechanic. He served 10 years in the Marines with 2 deployments and a WestPAC helping support OIF/OEF. In 2008, he was discharged honorably from the Marines and tried civilian life back in Tennessee. After realizing that he missed the military life and a move to Illinois, Mike joined the Illinois Army National Guard and started as a squad leader and ultimately finishing out his military career as a Platoon Sergeant for one of Illinois Army National Guard’s largest automotive platoon, with the 3637th Surface Maintenance Company (SMC).

In 2019, Mike retired out of the military due to injuries sustained from training. He made the decision to move his family back to Tennessee in the Shelby County area. Once he had established himself as a new resident to Tennessee, again, he decided that he wanted to continue to help his fellow Veterans and was employed by the State of Tennessee with the Tennessee Department of Veterans Services as a Veteran Resource Coordinator. He has accreditation with TDVS, VFW and The American Legion. Mike served 2 years as a Veteran Resource Coordinator and it wasn’t until the former Tipton County Service Officer, Guy Critelli, reached out to Mike and asked him to take his position as the new Tipton County Service Officer and Mike gladly excepted.

Mike’s highest priority as the new County Service Officer for Tipton County is looking out for and servicing the Veterans and their family members in the Tipton County area.
