The City of Munford recently advertised for bids for our residential trash pick-up service serving around 2200 homes in the city. The current contract ends on November 30, 2023, with our current provider being WastePro. We received three bids from trash collection companies currently servicing our area and those bidders were Republic, Sanders Waste, and WastePro.
The Board of Mayor and Aldermen met at a special called meeting on November 2 for the purpose of awarding the contract to one of those three bidders. As with all decisions, many factors were considered, and the unanimous decision of our board is WastePro. WastePro was also the lowest bidder. Though we have had issues in the past, recent changes in local management have improved service dramatically and we are pleased to award the contract to WastePro.
Due to an increase in WastePro’s costs to the City, as I mentioned earlier it was the lowest bid, the new rates for residential trash service will increase to $26.23 per month for basic service which includes weekly service and one can, $39.63 per month for two cans, and $48.83 for three cans.
These new rates will go into effect on the December billing and payable in January.
