Munford Police Department S.W.A.T. Team
| The Munford Police Department S.W.A.T. Team is primarily used in hostage situations, barricaded subjects, hazardous/drug arrest situations and other high risk activities requiring specialized services. The Munford Police S.W.A.T. Team was formed in May 2000 and consists of 6 members. In today's turbulent times of Homeland Security issues, terrorist threats and local threats, the need for these specially trained officers is increasingly more in demand.
We are also fortunate to have officers trained as critical incident/hostage negotiators. These officers are instrumental in situations where the safety of hostages or innocent bystanders is paramount to prevent injury to these parties. These negotiators work hand in hand with the S.W.A.T. team to bring a peaceful resolution to stressful and often violent encounters. |
