Munford Fire Department has partnered with TDOT (Tennessee Department of Transportation) in the Yellow Dot Program. In the event of a vehicle accident, the “Golden Hour” begins at the moment of impact. There are many times when the driver is incapacitated or for whatever reason not able to communicate important medical information to first responders.
The Yellow Dot program allows you the opportunity to have pertinent medical information kept in the glove box of your vehicle, so that first responders will have instant access to vital information, such as your medical conditions, medications or medical allergies that could be life threatening.
There are 5 simple steps to make sure that you are prepared in case of an accident.
1. Come to the fire department to have your photo taken and receive the packet
2. Place the photo on the form
3. Complete the Medical form
4. Attach the Yellow Dot on the outside of the rear-facing window lower left corner
5. Put the completed packet in your glove box
These 5 simple steps may save your life and give the emergency personnel the best possible chance to help you in case of an accident. In Tennessee there are over 1.5 million senior drivers and by 2020 (7 years) there will be 40 million senior drivers. This program is targeting senior drivers but anyone can sign up. Yellow Dot program is completely FREE and sponsored by TDOT.
