| Featured Entertainment Begins at 5:30 PM at Munford City Park American Idol Finalist Alexis Grace and Munford's Own Chris Love 2009 “American Idol 8” finalist Alexis Grace will perform as the headline act at Celebrate Munford on Saturday, September 19. Alexis Grace, acclaimed for her big voice and dynamic delivery, finished in eleventh place on Fox’s “American Idol 8.” Her final performance on Idol was Dolly Parton’s “Jolene.” She originally auditioned in Louisville, Kentucky, singing “Dr. Feelgood” by Aretha Franklin, where she won the unanimous consent of the four judges, thereby winning her a seat in the competition in Hollywood. Grace was the first group of twelve contestants to perform out of the top thirty-six and was the female with the highest tally of votes, guaranteeing her a spot amongst the finalists. Alexis Grace is a twenty-two year-old native of Memphis, Tennessee, plays guitar, and has been singing since the age of seven. She has made cameo appearances on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, Regis and Kelly, the Today Show and several local talk shows. Chris Love, Memphis’ most eligible bachelor, as named by Forbes magazine in 2009, will open for Grace. Love, a Memphis native, is a household name and highly regarded in the area for his work with the Munford High School Band program. He has opened for such acts as Maroon 5, Everclear, Switchfoot, Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Marc Broussard, the Wooten Brothers, Will Hoge, Julie Roberts, 112, Die Trying, Codeseven, Egypt Central, Underoath, Foghat and Dead Poetic. Celebrate Munford Chairperson Amy Turnage stated, “We are so pleased to be able to offer the level of talent present in both Alexis Grace and Chris Love and their bands. This is an awesome line-up with amazing credits.” Turnage added she has seen Celebrate Munford grow at a steady rate in both talent and artisans over the years. |
