Celebrate Munford Awards Grants to Eight Community Organizations

Eight community organizations were awarded grants by Celebrate, Inc. from proceeds of the 2008 event. Donations of $1000 were presented to American Legion Post 67 - Boys State, Carl Perkins Center for Prevention of Child Abuse, Dyersburg State Community College, Tipton County Education Foundation, Tipton County Arts Council and Tipton County Literacy Council.

In presenting the checks, Amy Turnage, 2009 Celebrate Munford chairperson expressed appreciation to the recipients for the services they provide and their presence in the community. "Because of you, our citizens are provided a better quality of life and significant opportunities that might not otherwise be afforded. Because of the generosity of corporate and individual sponsors, Celebrate is able to provide funds for various community projects and organizations. “

Turnage also told the group, Celebrate makes total donations of $15,000 each year to the community. These include three $1500 scholarships to deserving seniors who attend Munford High School, fireworks display at Celebrate, numerous donations to community organizations and to Christmas Fill-the-Sleigh - new toys for children. Donations have also been made to the Munford-Tipton County Public Memorial Library and a Girls State recipient from Munford High School.

Celebrate Munford Incorporated is a 501c-3, non-profit organization that hosts seasonal events as a way of fostering community, building relationships and providing scholarships and grants.
