MUNFORD MUNICIPAL REGIONAL PLANNING COMMISSION

Mission Statement:
To promote the public health, safety, and general welfare; and, to guide development in accordance with the Land Development Plan; and to secure safety from fire, flood, and other dangers and to prevent overcrowding and undue congestion; and , to enhance the character and economic stability and encourage orderly and beneficial development for the citizens of Munford.

The Munford Municipal Regional Planning Commission gets its authority from Sections 13-4-301 through 13-7-309 of the Tennessee Code Annotated to regulate development within the Urban Growth Area designated to Munford, Tennessee.

It is the policy of the Planning Commission to review plats of proposed subdivision developments and site plans of proposed new construction for the conformity to the Comprehensive Plan, the Land Use Plan, the Transportation Plan, the Capital Improvements Program, and in the context of existing land use and development, population and traffic distribution and the needs and best interests of the immediate community.

The State Local Planning Office out of Jackson, Tennessee has been retained to assist the Planning Commission with its purpose. Ms. Amye King  is the representative of that office. The Planning Commission meets every second Tuesday at the Munford Municipal Building in the Board Room at 6:30 pm. All items on the agenda must be submitted to the Planning Commission Secretary at Munford City Hall at least 14 days prior to the meeting.

Code Enforcement   The City of Munford Building Department, Codes Enforcement, was established for the administration and enforcement of the Standard Building Codes. These codes were set up to secure the beneficial interests and purposes of the public safety, health, and general welfare through structural strength, stability, sanitation, adequate light and ventilation, and safety to life and property from fire and other hazards attributed to the building environment including alteration, repair, removal, demolition, use and occupancy of building, structures, or premises, and by regulating the installation and maintenance of all electrical, gas, mechanical, and plumbing systems.                             OP Timbs
