YARD SALES
On September 27, 1993, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen at it's regular meeting approved a Resolution to regulate the holding of yard sales by the citizens of Munford. This regulation is not intended to create undue hardship on anyone, but rather to insure the safety of the citizenry of the city and the surrounding areas. Persons desiring to hold yard sales within the city of Munford must comply with the following:
1. Yard sales must be registered online, or in person, with the office of the Chief of Police, which located at 79 College Street, across from City Hall. Registration may be done on Monday through Friday, except for holidays, between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, and at least one day prior to the date of the yard sale. Citizens will be given a copy of this regulation, with a permit number. You must show the yard sale permit to any police officer who stops to verify your registration.
2. Yard sales will be limited to two per residence, per year. Citizens desiring to hold more than two sales per year will be charged a $20.00 fee for each additional sale. If it appears that a resident is attempting to conduct a business out of a home, in violation of city ordinances, a permit will be denied.
3. The citizen having the yard sale must provide parking adequate to allow traffic to move smoothly and safely. Do not allow vehicles stopping for the sale to block any part of a traffic lane ineither direction.
4. The yard sale permit will be revoked if a police officer determines that traffic is obstructed, or a safety hazard has been created.
